'Wecolme, Darrien' and '8 Things'

Tue Feb 24, 2009, 12:29 PM
Okay, I'm supposed to write a meme, but first I want to say hello to my new nephew, Darrien Allan Sanders, who just joined the rest of us yesterday night. He's a healthy little giant at eight pounds, and has dark hair and eyes. I wasn't there in person, but I wish them the best of luck.

On with the meme:D
1. Im six foot, three inches tall.
2. I once spent twenty four hours playing FF7 nonstop, due to no memory card.
3. I have a bad habit of saying "awesome" a bit too much.
4. I had a bike accident that caused me to loose my left front tooth.
5. I am this universe's worst driver.
6. I am very obsessed with music and consider the ability to play an instrument one of the highest forms of excellence.
7. I am prone to daydream at random intervals during the day.
8. I am vulnerable to rain. It makes me pass out.

Uhh. I don't know what's more lame -- WoW or virtual petsites ;D But I don't play pets anymore, since I promised myself, my friend and God I wouldn't; instead, I hang out on the Kingdom of Loathing now. It has limited turns, so it's not so addictive.

I remember I tuned out a few times during GMing, sometimes it was funny, but sometimes frustrating for my players xD"

But getting lost in the moment is the best thing about roleplaying. During epic battles, I would loose my focus on what was being said and try to imagine how one exchange would flow into the next.

Hahaha xD I told ya how rarely battles take place in my game, right? Well, durng one of the only battles, a player was describing a very epic stunt, and after he finished I was like: "Huh? Could you repeat? Sorry, I thought about something else..."; I remember he was so angry/dissapointed it took me a while to apologise make him talk to me again and continue the battle :D (which was bloody holey since I didn't remember half of the battle rules; players defeated that Abyssal and Solar WAY too easily but wheva, not that I didn't want them to win :D)

You just want the characters to get something out of the fight? Or maybe, sweat a little for the XP?
:icondefinitia:
Ah, that would be useful. But I guess I'm just too lazy to learn the combat rules... And think of some epic battles. Most of the time, I come up with some strange connections between events and characters, connections which are oddly familiar to those from a popular soap opera called "The Bold and the Beautiful" xDDDd Ahahahahaha

LOL! Nothing wrong with that at all. Fights just get too similar, and having an emotional context to the battles makes the fights matter more.

Some time ago, we were thinking about a way to cut down the nuber of the dice that have to be rolled during Exalted fights... Or to roll no dice at all. So my boyfriend, who is better at describing battles, would just do pure storytelling in his games, and I would just make my players roll one die in every check, where the probability of succes would be based on numer of dots in relevant skill/ability. Wouldn't that make things easier?

It does indeed! It sounds like a well concieved alteration of the exceptional skill level rule. I could see this as coming in handy in games with a less combat oriented scope. If you could, could you tell your boyfriend I really like this idea and may incorporate it into a few games (when I'm able to play one, that is XD!).
:icondefinitia:
I'm glad that our ideas can help someone (especially you :meow:)... Will tell him. By the way, I also really really :iconwantplz: some occasion to test out this stuff...
